Events & Meetings
January 26 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until 28th February 2022
This group invites you to choose the subject you wish to draw. You can gather some items from a walk, such as leaves, twigs, pinecones etc., or pick a favourite house plant or fruit arrangement. We will do some short warm up exercises to get your eye and hand in before allowing half an hour to concentrate on one drawing. A pencil, some paper and a rubber are all you need to join in, but participants are welcome to work in whatever medium they choose.
Most sessions will focus on still life. We will also look at drawing from one’s imagination, inspired by poetry and music. We will look at drawing in abstract and changing the mood of a drawing by using different styles. We will also explore the effect that negative space, scale and perspective has on composition and your artistic licence.
You can decide if you want to share what you have done in the session or not. We may also work towards an online exhibition in the spring should participants wish to display their work in this way. You are welcome to join whether you draw every day or if this is the first time that you have ever put pencil to paper.
“Drawing is not what one sees but what one can make others see” – Edgar Degas.
